Echocardiogram is test used to study the function of heart by using ultrasound. It is helpful to identify the heart diseases, monitoring heart valve diseases, and observation after doing surgical treatment. There are several types of the echocardiogram are as follow.

  1. Transthoracic echocardiogram: – It is standard echocardiogram. In this specialist puts transducer into the chest and send high frequency waves that bounce off the heart and create images of sound. For the procedure specialist puts three electrodes on the chest and it gets attached with the ECG monitor. It helps to track heart activity.
  2. Transesophageal echocardiogram: – In this test the transducer puts in throat and into esophagus to get clearer pictures of heart. For this test patient need to take a fast for 6 hours and must have to tell if any disorders have related to the esophagus. Before starting the procedure the specialist puts intravenous line into vein and sticks the EKG electrodes on the chest.
  3. Stress echocardiogram: – This test is carried out while exercising on treadmill or bicycle. It helps to identify the lack of blood flow which is not detected in other tests. Patient must have to only drink water before 4 hours of the procedure. Also physician tell to do not take heart medications. The technician puts electrodes on the chest and monitor heart rate and pulse and blood pressure.
