Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a genetic disorder in which an individual’s skin is extremely prone to blistering and can be fatal. Its usual onset is at birth and lasts lifelong. It is an autosomal genetic disorder with no cure, it can only be managed. Mild cases of EB show no symptoms until the individual starts to walk or crawl. Certain cases also show the narrowing of the esophagus and skin cancer. The common symptoms include scarring at the scalp, extremely thin to almost no nail formation, tooth decay due to poorly formed enamel, itchy skin, presence of white pimple-like bumps on the skin. Such individuals are extremely prone to sepsis and eventual death. The life expectancy of individuals with EB is lower than average.
