It is also known as runner’s knee or jumper’s knee and refers to the pain in the knee and the kneecap (patella).
It is mainly caused due to vigorous physical activity that puts repeated stress onto the knee. Other reasons include use of improper sports training equipment and frequent changes in footwear and playing surface.
Symptoms :
Popping or cracking sound in knees when climbing stairs or during movement.
Pain in the knees after prolonged periods of inactivity or exercise.
Increased pain due to changes in the intensity or level of activity.
Treatment :
Changing the training routine and shifting over to low-impact exercises such as biking and swimming.
