  • Sacroiliitis is the inflammation of the sacroiliac joint and is the main component of ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Treatment :
    • Alternating between ice and heat to relieve inflammation and pain
    • Physical therapy and exercise
    • Periodical infection of corticosteroids directly into the joints
    • Electrical stimulation of the joint
    • Radiofrequency denervation
    • Joint fusion (surgery) in very extreme cases
  • Diet that aids in the treatment of sacroiliitis :
    • Omega-3-fatty acids (flax seeds, walnuts etc.)
    • Increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables
    • Inclusion of whole grain and fiber-rich food like corn, brown rice
    • Increasing the intake of calcium-rich food like broccoli, kale, almonds etc.
    • Inclusion of seafood, garlic, turmeric and ginger
