Paraprotein is a monoclonal Immunoglobin present in blood and urine. Cloning of Plasma cells is the main function of Paraprotein. Monoclonal paraproteinemia is a disorder of plasma cells. These disorders may cause myeloma which is incurable. The recent study stated that people having age more than50 may cause paraproteinemia. Paraproteinemia mostly occurs in man. Mostly the African American white population is getting affected by paraproteinemia.

  • Symptoms:- malaise and fatigue, severe back pain, osteopenia, lytic lesions, improper renal function, normochromic normocytic anemia, Hypocalcaemia, bacterial infection, hyperviscosity, nephritic syndrome, cardiac failure, malabsorption, peripheral neuropathies, carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Diagnosis: – blood and urine sample test and serum assay required for the diagnosis.
  •  Treatment: – No treatment is available for the treatment of symptomatic myeloma. Asymptomatic myeloma can be cured by using supporting care with the therapy. In supportive care patients given pain management therapy like chemotherapy, vertebroplasty. Hypocalcemia is managing with rehydration treatment. Bisphosphonates helpful to get relief from pain. Renal failure is managed by dialysis. Transfusion of red cells helps to manage anemia. Chemotherapy is helpful in reduced infections and hyperviscosity. The patient having age 65-70 shows the good results of melphalan.
