Admin_NHT Staff asked 6 years ago Pap smear test is test conducted for the screening of presence of cancerous cells in the cervix area. Cervix is narrow end part of uterus. Pap test is also help to identify the changes in the cells which help to cure and diagnose the cancer. Pap test is carried out for those women who are older than 30 year. The woman suffers from HIV must have to carried out Pap test frequently. It is also carried out for the detection of sexually transmitted diseases.
- Procedure: – Avoid doing Pap test during menstrual cycle it may affect on the results. Avoid sexual intercourse, douching, or spermicidal product and stay calm to avoid interference with the result. For pregnant woman early 24 weeks are safe to carry out Pap smear test. Pap test is carried out very fast. Physician asks to lie on the back with spreading legs and feet resting on the stirrups. The she insert speculum into vagina and then remove small sample of cells form cervix by using tools like spatula or brush. These sample cells are preserved and send for the abnormalities present in the cells. When lab test say normal Pap smear test it means no any abnormalities are found in the test. When a lab test report is abnormal it means patient is suffering from cancer.
