Mental ailment is not one’s personal failure. It can happen to anyone and with the fast-paced lifestyle, the people having mental health ailments have increased significantly. Exclusion of people with some mental ailments or brain disorder is wrong and can never be justified, there should be enough room for everyone in our community. Still many people shy away or feign from mentally sick people.
It is very important to understand the factors that come together to cause mental ailments or any disorder of the brain. Mental disease can affect anyone and is more common than diabetes and cancer. There must no discrimination on the grounds of mental illness and the patients must have rights and ease to get treated near their own community.

- Mood disorder like depression or bipolar disorder
- Anxiety disorder
- Personality Disorder
- Eating disorder
- A psychotic disorder like schizophrenia
- Substance abuse disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
How to take care of mental health?
- Talk about your feelings with your friends and family.
- Go for walks and exercise regularly.
- Get proper sleep

- Drink enough of fluids
- Avoid consumption of alcohol, if you consume alcohol drink sensibly.
- Avoid substance abuse.
- Stay connected with your friends and family. Avoid being isolated.
- If you feel depressed or feels anything that is not normal like hallucination or delusions do seek help from a professional.
- Go for vacations to relieve mental stress as going for holidays helps to improve mental health.
- Enroll yourself to learn new skills or do something you are good at.
- Accept yourself the way you are.
- Help others, the small act of helping makes you feel good about yourself and gives you immense happiness and even boosts your self-esteem.
- Keep yourself motivated and positive.
- Meditate at least five minutes every day.
- Feeling loved
- Surround yourself with positive and good people
- Avoid the company of negative people
- Set realistic goals do not be over ambitious
- Break up the monotony of life.
- Learn to manage stress and how to stay calm even in stressful situations also.

- History of broken family or loss of someone very close to you emotionally.
- History of abuse be it sexual, verbal, physical or emotional
- A feeling of being unloved
- Physically ill
- Neglect
- Sometimes the family history of mental illness
- Anxiety
- Anger
- Loneliness
- Some infections
