Entamoeba histolytica is a protozoan cause’s parasitic infection known as ambiasis. The peoples who live or travels in poor hygienic condition are having more risk to the infection. Transmission Entamoeba histolytica cyst enters the human body by soils and water ingestion, this cyst present in oil fertilizer or water contaminated by infected feces. It can also cause during oral-anal sex and colonic irrigation.
- Symptoms:-Diarrhea, abdominal pain, stomach pain, abscesses, GI infection, bloody stool, fever, tenderness, Death.
- Diagnosis: – Travel history of patient helpful to suspect Entamoeba histolytica, stool sample test, liver function test, Ultrasound, and CT of liver and abdomen. If necessary colonoscopy is conducted to diagnosed Entamoeba Histolytica.
- Treatment: – two weeks course of metronidazole is helpful to cure the infection. If any damage occurs to an organ due to infection the treatment is based on the damage organ recovery.
