Ocular disease is a disease that affects eye vision and health. Ocular diseases are common in all age peoples. Unhygienic habits are the main reason for the ocular diseases; it may be caused by injury or trauma to the eye. There are many types of ocular diseases.
1. Glaucoma: – Glaucoma is a group of ocular disorders developed because of ocular pressure within the eye. High pressure on optic nerve may cause vision loss. Glaucoma is classified as open-angle glaucoma and closed-angle glaucoma. There is no any sign and symptoms of glaucoma except vision loss.
Treatment:– laser treatment, eye surgery
2. Cataracts: – Cataract is a painless cloudy spot on lenses in the eye. It progressed with the age. Cataracts may cause by diabetes, injury to the eye, medicinal side effect, or excessive sunlight exposure.
Treatment: – use of sunglasses, magnifying lenses helpful to treat cataracts or surgery to remove cloudy lenses.
3. Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD):– In this condition after the age 60 macula get destroys. Which helps to focus the vision. There are two types of Age-related macular degeneration, which is wet and dry. In wet AMD blood vessels behind the retina, start grow and leak blood and fluid, in dry AMD light-sensitive cells in the macula break down and destruction of the central vision.
4. Retinal Detachment: – In this condition, the fluid buildup behind the retina separates the retina from a black portion of the eye. Retinal detachment shows no pain or any other symptoms.
Treatment:– laser surgery
5. Pink Eye: – Redness and Inflammation on the covering eyelids. It is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, or some allergic chemicals or allergens.
Treatment: – bacterial infection cured by using antibiotic drops.
6.Uveitis: – Uveitis is inflammation of the uvea. Uvea is the layer contains arteries and veins which are important structures in the vision. Symptoms of Uveitis contain pain in eyeball, blurred vision, and light sensitivity, a spot in vision.
Treatment: – Treatment is depending upon cause Anti-inflammatory or antibiotic drops are helpful along with pain relief medicines.
7. Eye Allergies: – Allergies may cause chronic inflammation to the eyes which can cause permanent damage to the cornea. Allergies may cause by cosmetics and medicine sensitivities.
Treatment: – Antihistaminic or decongestants drops are helpful to treat allergies.
8. Sty: – Sty is an infection of an oil gland which present on the eyelid. It causes pain tenderness, redness, and swelling.
Treatment: – warm compression to the affected area for 10 minutes two times daily. If sty comes and releases the pus it should be clean with soap and water
9. Blepharitis: – it is an eye infection that occurs on the anterior or posterior side of the eyelid. Its shows symptoms like burning, itching, swelling, flaky skin at the surface of lashes
Treatment:-.Good eyelid hygiene helpful to the protection of Blepharitis. Antibiotics are also helpful to cure the disease.
