Endoscopy is non surgical procedure used to diagnose the digestive track with the help of endoscope (camera attached into the flexible tube and light). Endoscopy is useful in the evaluation of all digestive tracks in one time without performing any surgery. Doctors may suggest the endoscopy when patients have symptoms like stomach pain, ulcer, gastritis swallowing difficulties, digestive track bleeding, chronic constipation or diarrhea, nodules or mass growth in colons.
- Procedure: – Patient must fast for 6 to 8 hours before starting procedure. The sedative is provided to the patient. General anesthesia is rarely used in this procedure. For the upper endoscopy is endoscope is passes through the mouth and throat into esophagus. Its help to view esophagus, stomach, and upper part of small intestine.
