  • Viruses that are transmitted to humans and animals via ticks are called tick borne virus (TBV).
  • TBV causes pathogenic infections in humans and animals. The most common TBV that is found to spread between March and November of every year is the severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). The primary vector of SFTSV is an Asian tick called Haemaphysalis longicornis.
  • Symptoms of TBV :
    • Fever and chills
    • Headache, fatigue, muscle ache
    • Abdominal pain
    • Lymphadenopathy
    • Anorexia, nausea, vomiting
    • Gingival hemorrhage
    • Leukocytopenia
    • Conjunctival congestion
    • Hemorrhagic manifestations and multi-organ failure in serious cases.
