Chronic Excessive Flatulence: Causes
Definition: Excess gas in the digestive tract lead to abdominal discomfort and distress which is known as flatulence. People often pass gas without noticing which is healthy gas and is harmless.
Chronic excessive flatulence occurs when the person swallows tiny amounts of air, this will be released either by belching or through the anal passage. When there is a smell in the flatulence it is because of the small number of sulfur gasses. When the food is not digested properly it starts to decompose leads to the release of sulfur.
Chronic excessive flatulence occurs from the intake of certain foods continuously. For example,
- Vegetables like artichokes, beans, broccoli, leeks, cauliflower, cabbage, garlic, onions, Brussels sprouts, and turnips.
- Cereals like wheat and oats
- Dairy products
Causes
- Increased frequency of passing gas
- Belching
- Abdominal bloating
- Abdominal discomfort or pain
- Foul-smelling gas
- Swallowed air
- Breakdown of undigested foods
- Lactase intolerance
- Mal-absorption of certain foods.
I have always had bad experiences with my tummy. especially when it is very cold. Can I consider this Chronic Excessive Flatulence?
