Biliary atresia is a liver and bile duct disease that occurs in infants. Symptoms of this disease can appear after two months of birth.

  • Symptoms: – Biliary atresia shows symptoms like jaundice, the darkness in urine, clay-colored stools and weight loss. In jaundice, skin color changes into the yellow. Jaundice occurs because of the immature liver of a newborn baby. Dark urine caused by a breakdown of bilirubin from hemoglobin is filtered by the kidney and removes by the urine. An increase in biliary atresia also increases the level of jaundice.
  • Causes: – It causes because of incomplete formation of bile duct during pregnancy. Also, it causes a weak immune system of fetal after birth. The child with biliary atresia may be born with problems with organ-like heart, spleen, blood vessels and intestine.
  • .Treatment:- Biliary atresia cannot treat with medicine. The removal of the damaged duct is the only treatment for biliary atresia. The 40% of children are not cured by this process, for such condition liver transplantation is the only way to solve the problem.
