- Shave biopsy: – In this type of biopsy physician shaves thin layer of the skin present around the lesion.
- Punch biopsy: – Punch biopsy is useful method to remove all layers of lesion. In this method punch instrument is used to remove circular lesion.
- Excisional biopsy: – This biopsy method is useful to remove entire lesion.
- Incisional biopsy: – In this type physician used scalpel to get small samples of large lesion.
Procedure: – This procedure is carried out in physician clinic. Before starting the biopsy physician clean the biopsy area and give local anesthesia to the patient. Then skin sample is taken by using above methods. Shave biopsy don’t need stitches but punch biopsy, Excisional biopsy, Incisional biopsy need stitches or sutures. Skin biopsy is carried out for the detection of skin cancers.
