Every person wishes to enhance their physical appearance or dreams to look their best. Can there be a boon to grant their wish? If yes, then it surely has to be Cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is a branch of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery focuses on the reconstruction of the face or body, while cosmetic surgery is totally used for aesthetic purposes. So, Cosmetic Surgery is an elective surgery done on normal parts of the body. The objective is either to enhance physical appearance or hide signs of aging.
In short cosmetic surgery is a unique discipline of medicine where surgical and medical techniques are used to enhance the physical appearance of a person of any age or gender.
Types of cosmetic surgery:
There are different kinds of aesthetic procedure available for different parts of the body:
- Breast augmentation or enlargement is a procedure to enlarge or augment breast size. This procedure is performed in women who are having smaller breasts size or have drooping breasts. It is also performed in case of breast changes post-pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Breast reduction is a procedure in case of large breasts which causes discomfort and pain. It is also done in women with a higher risk of developing Breast Cancer, to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer.
- Breast lift or mastopexy is the procedure that involves breast reduction by removing glandular cells and skin. There is a rearrangement of the remaining tissues to make the breast appear firm and lifted.
- Male breast reduction is a procedure for men with gynecomastia. It is performed either by liposuction or by various scaring pattern which is hidden around the nipple and the areola.
- Liposuction is a procedure to improve the contour of the body and decrease limited areas of fat deposits.
- Vulvovaginal surgery includes a group of procedures like labiaplasty, labioplasty, labia minor reduction or labia reduction. The aim of this procedure is to restructure elongated labia.
- Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck it mainly aims to reshape firm the abdomen by tightening the muscles and fascia of the abdomen.
- Buttock augmentation involves enhancing the look of the buttock by making them large.
- A buttock lift involves tightening and lifting up the buttocks, hips, and thighs by removing excess skin.
- Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery mainly focuses to reshape the eyelids.
- Rhinoplasty or nose job is mainly done to improve the appearance of the nose and to ease breathing.
- Otoplasty is performed to restructure misshapen ears.
- Rhytidectomy or facelift surgically removes wrinkles and tighten facial skin to give a youthful look.
- Brow Lift
- Chin augmentation
- Malar or cheek augmentation
