Dr. Girish Warrier-Cardiac Surgeon at Aster MIMS
Dr. Girish Warrier, a paediatric cardiac surgeon with many firsts in his credit, heads the Paediatic Cardiology Department of Aster MIMS, Calicut. Being the first surgeon in India to successfully perform the complex open heart procedure (Starne’s Operation) in a 1 kg neonate, he comes to Aster MIMS with years of expertise. He is also the first paediatric cardiac surgeona in Telangana to successfully perform a Norwood Operation. Graduated from Government Medical College, Thrissur, he completed his MS in General Surgery from the Government Medical College, Calicut and MCh-CVTS from SCTIMST, Trivandrum. He then completed a Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Auckland City Hospital & Starship Children’s Hospital, New Zealand. Dr. Girish also holds a fellowship in Cardiac Surgery from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA.
He is a Fellow of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons and also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, USA. With more than 20 years of international experience, Dr. Girish Warrier is also specialized in Congenital and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery for more than 12 years by performing 3000 surgeries of varying complexities that includes Arterial switch operations, Norwood operations, Complex biventricular repair, Single ventricle palliation and Complex neonatal surgery.
He has expertise in Neonatal Cardiac Surgery, Single Ventricle Palliations and Heart Transplantation.
Qualification: MBBS, MS, MCh (CTVS),FIACS, Fellowships in Cardiac Surgery and Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery
