Hemorrhoids: Risk Factors

Hemorrhoids are a clinical condition caused due dilation of the veins around the anus, causing distension of the veins. It is a very painful condition usually because of chronic constipation however, it is also occasionally caused due to chronic diarrhea. Passing stool becomes very painful and difficult because of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are categorized under four degrees, by their clinical representation:

  • The first degree occurs with very little bleeding.
  • In the second degree, there is slight prolapse during the passage of stool which retracts back without any manual retraction after the passage of stool.
  • Third-degree hemorrhoids have prominent prolapse of the blood vessel which requires manual retraction.
  • In the Fourth degree of hemorrhoids, the prolapse is permanent.

  1. Omg, I didn’t know that hemorrhoids are a medical ailment that develops when the veins around the anus enlarge, resulting in vein distension. It now makes sense that it is an extremely painful condition that is typically brought on by persistent constipation, however, it can also occur when chronic diarrhea is to blame. One of my coworkers has this condition and I hear her complain about the pain a lot so I hope she’s actively seeking treatment from a medical professional.
