Sanies is a thin mixture of blood and pus that generally oozes out of a wound. It is foul smelling.
The blood and pus are formed as a natural reaction to the body’s healing mechanism. The pus contains a mixture of white blood cells (WBCs), which are responsible for the immune response, and dead bacteria and pathogens killed by these WBCs. The blood is responsible for bringing these WBCs to the site of injury. It is a very normal response by the body and is an indication that the immune system is working to protect you. It usually clears up on its own in a couple of days, if it doesn’t medical advice should be taken.
