Spasticity is condition which cause muscle stiffness, muscle tightness which restrict the normal flow of body fluid. Spasticity is caused by damage to brain and spinal cord. This damage shows irregular signal sending to the muscle. The people having brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy or multiple sclerosis are high risk peoples for spasticity. The patient having spasticity shows symptoms like muscle stiffness, muscle spasms, muscle and joint deformities, muscle fatigue, constipation, urinary tract infection, systemic illness, fever, frozen joints. Neurological testing and MRI imagining help to diagnose the spasticity. For the treatment of the spasticity physical, occupational therapies are carried out. Also oral medications like benzodiazepines, Imidazolines, Gabapentin are helpful for the treatment of spasticity.
